Every year, we get this question a lot: what’s the difference between Sazonblea and Lánzate?
Both are powerful convenings, rooted in our values, but they serve different purposes in building our political casita.
Sazonblea
Sazonblea is a space for Mijente members. It’s not a conference, a rally, or a festival. It is a gathering point for folks who are actively participating in Mijente’s ongoing campaigns and programs. Oftentimes in gathering we look to sharpen skills or take stock of our work. When we talk about Mijente as a political home, the Sazonblea is a physical manifestation of that – it’s where we get to reconnect, catch up with one another and replenish. At Sazonblea, we dive into the deeper things like:
- What’s working in our campaigns and organizing?
- What are new skills or information we need in order to more effectively build movement and campaigns?
- Where do we want Mijente to go next, and how do we get there together?

This is where we learn from each other about what’s happening in our respective communities, where we align on priorities, and where members can bring ideas and voice needs. Sazonblea is about strategy, direction, and collective ownership. It’s where we do the slow, intentional work of checking in with members and growing our political casita based on what’s happening on the ground in our movement.
Lánzate
Lánzate, is our public, movement-wide gathering. It’s a celebration, a learning space, a place to build relationships across geographies, sectors, and struggles.
At Lánzate, we open our doors to movement leaders, artists, healers, techies, educators, and organizers from across the country. It’s a space to share knowledge, sharpen our skills, and cross-pollinate with others who are fighting for justicia and liberation. Lánzate, is just that, a jumping off point. It can be a beginning chispa or the re-lighting of an ongoing flame. You do not have to be a member of Mijente to attend, and it’s a space for you whether you’re just learning about Mijente or whether you’ve been with us for years. We host workshops, panels, performances, and political education sessions that help sustain our organizing.

Right now, at a political moment that demands more from us (and not just more of us), we need spaces like Sazonblea more than ever. We need to be with each other, hear from each other, and build a shared vision for the future of our political casita, juntes.
