In the midst of the DNC where organizers continued to push for more humane immigration policy, protesters in Toledo, Ohio took to the streets to continue to #WallOffTrump and stand up against hate.
Lucia Mendoza-Reno, one of the event organizers, explained, “Toledo’s slogan is “Toledo loves love” and Trump does not reflect our values. We’re protesting because he does not represent us, and we wanted him to know that he’s facing opposition here. It was empowering to chant “No human being is illegal” with strangers, who don’t know me personally, but already accept me. We had community and a peaceful place to voice our concerns against Trump’s hateful rhetoric. I am proud of my city tonight.”
